Engineered from the ground up, the Orion XS 12/12-70A represents Victron Energy's next generation of DC-DC charging technology. Designed for dual battery systems charged via a conventional or smart (Euro 5/6) alternator, the Orion XS is suited to applications where the alternator's output voltage is insufficient or unstable — as is common in modern vehicles and in installations with extended cable runs — making precise, regulated DC-to-DC charging essential for complete and reliable auxiliary battery charging.
This higher-output 70A model is optimised for the latest generation of lithium LiFePO4 batteries that can accept large charge currents, offering significantly accelerated recharge times compared to lower-rated units. The output charge current is fully user-configurable in 0.1A increments via Bluetooth, providing precise control to match both the capability of the alternator and the requirements of the battery system. Innovative aluminium circuit board cooling technology delivers an exceptional 98.5% efficiency, enabling a compact and lightweight form factor without the need for a conventional heatsink — instead supplemented by miniature fans on the underside to sustain full 70A output at ambient temperatures up to 40°C.
Victron's adaptive 4-stage charging algorithm automatically adjusts the absorption phase duration relative to the depth of discharge, preventing overcharging without sacrificing full recharge capacity. Users may select from eight factory pre-programmed battery charge profiles or define a fully customised charging algorithm to match the specific requirements of any battery manufacturer's specification. Multiple units may be connected in parallel to increase total charge current, and the device also supports a fixed-voltage power supply mode with a user-configurable output range of 10–17V.
In addition to wireless configuration via the VictronConnect app over Bluetooth, the Orion XS features a VE.Direct port enabling integration with Victron GX devices (such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX) for remote monitoring, configuration, and system-level control. When multiple Orion XS units are operated in parallel and connected to a GX device, inter-unit communication synchronises their charging stages for cohesive and efficient system-wide charging.
FEATURES
Built-in Bluetooth Smart
Configure, monitor, and update the Orion XS wirelessly using the VictronConnect app on iOS or Android. All charging parameters and protection thresholds are adjustable without physical access to the unit. The Device List view within the app provides instant readout of key data, including warnings and alarms, without requiring an active connection.
VE.Direct Port
A dedicated wired VE.Direct port enables connection to a GX device (Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX) or PC for advanced monitoring, diagnostics, and remote control via the VRM Portal or local Remote Console. Parallel units connected to a GX device communicate with one another to synchronise charging stages automatically.
Adjustable Charging Current
Output charge current is fully user-configurable from 1A to 70A in increments of 0.1A via VictronConnect. This allows the unit to be calibrated to the available alternator output from the outset, with the option to release additional capacity in future as the system is upgraded — for example, following an alternator upgrade or transition to a higher-capacity lithium battery.
Smart Alternator Compatibility
An integrated engine shutdown detection mechanism determines whether the vehicle alternator is actively supplying power, activating the charger only when appropriate. This prevents inadvertent discharge of the starter battery when the engine is off, and ensures compatibility with modern variable-voltage smart alternators.
Adaptive 4-Stage Charge Algorithm
For lead-acid batteries, the absorption duration is automatically shortened following shallow discharges and extended following deep discharges, preventing both undercharging and overcharging. Eight pre-programmed battery profiles are available, with full user customisation supported for lithium and specialist battery chemistries.
Low-Temperature & Input Under-Voltage Protection
To protect lithium batteries from charge damage at low ambient temperatures, the charger disables automatically below a configurable temperature threshold. An input under-voltage lockout protects the starter battery from deep discharge, with configurable restart thresholds to resume charging once the input voltage recovers.
Remote On/Off
The unit may be switched on and off remotely via the dedicated remote on/off connector or through the VictronConnect app. Typical applications include integration with a manual switch, a BMS output signal, or an external control relay.
Comprehensive Electronic Protection
The charger incorporates full protection against overload, short circuit, and excessive internal temperature. Under over-temperature conditions, output power is progressively reduced to prevent damage to the unit while maintaining partial charge capability.
Parallel Operation
An unlimited number of Orion XS units may be connected in parallel to scale charge current to the requirements of the system. When connected via a GX device, paralleled units synchronise their charge stages for coordinated, system-wide efficiency.
Power Supply Mode
In addition to battery charging operation, the Orion XS may be configured as a fixed-voltage DC power supply with a user-defined output voltage between 10V and 17V, suitable for powering DC loads directly from the vehicle's electrical system.
Automatic Temperature-Compensated Charging
The charging algorithm automatically compensates output voltage relative to ambient temperature, ensuring optimal charge acceptance and battery longevity across the full operating temperature range.
Large Cable Terminals
The DC cable terminal block accommodates cable cross-sections up to 25mm² (AWG 4) and incorporates an integrated cable clamp for mechanical strain relief, supporting robust and reliable high-current cable connections.
IP65 protection
The Orion XS complies with an ingress protection rating of IP65. This means the product is dust-tight and protected against heavy rain.

Returns and Refund Policy
We guarantee that the high quality products we sell are 'fit for purpose' - if it doesn't work for your vehicle, let us know within 14 days, send it straight back and we can exchange or refund, or if after 14 days a store credit.

Returns
Our policy lasts 14 days. If 14 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
To complete your return, you need to let us know what you wish to return (please quote your Order # or Invoice #) and how you will be sending it to us. We will issue you a Return Authorisation # with the shipping details.
Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer.
Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you if the item is incomplete or damaged, and of the approval or otherwise of your refund (if within 14 days) or exchange or store credit. All deposits to reserve stock are non-refundable.
Items for exchange will be sent within 14 days of receipt, stock permitting.
Approved refunds will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card (if still valid - this will be confirmed) or original method of payment (eg bank transfer/EFT), within 14 days of receipt of the returned item.
Late or missing refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again or card statement again, and then contact us.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Gifts
If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.
If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver and he will find out about your return.
Shipping
To return your product, please choose a reputable courier service, clearly noting the sender details and Return Authorisation # you have received from us.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.
If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

All shipments are trackable and you will receive a tracking number upon despatch.
Our shipments are fully insured against loss and damage, ensuring that you will not be at loss should the parcel go missing.
Note all shipments will require a signature upon delivery. A package that has been signed for cannot be declared as lost, so it is important that you specify your correct delivery address or that of a trustworthy 3rd party if you elect to deliver it to an alternative business address for example.
Our pallet shipments may be sent to the depot nearest you for collection, as pallet delivery services are not available in all areas.
