November Edition

It's November and it's time to drive with the window down, pullover for an icecream, stop to smell the flowers, go for an afternoon stroll, make homemade lemonade and wear your favourite shirt even if no else likes it. The weather is warm and it's time to live life on the road, be yourself and get in nature.

This month; Matt shows us how to install side door and tailgate curtains in a Multivan, they can be a little tricky if you don't know the shortcuts. What a blast! Old Bar Beach Festival 2019

Reports are in!

The 15th Annual Old Bar Beach Festival was a success by all accounts. To our fellow VanEssa travellers, you made the weekend! Thank you to those who shared the weekend with us, gave us a helping hand and added to the kombi atmosphere. There was no shortage of things to do, or eat, with an array of market stalls, street food, festival rides and kombi humour to enjoy. New friends were made, knowledge shared and memories created. Saturday night was the highlight, we all enjoyed a German feast by the fire pit and it was topped with fireworks at sundown. Does it get any better? I think not.

Eggs in Jail

An oldie but a goodie, Eggs in Jail. Great recipe inspiration from www.gocampingaustraliablog.com:

Ingredients:

  • Thickly sliced bread (brioche bread works a treat)
  • eggs
  • butter

Method:

  1. Butter the bread slices, both sides.
  2. Cut a hole in the middle of the bread that can accommodate a cracked egg, about 10cm.
  3. In a greased frypan, which is already hot and sizzling, place the bread.
  4. Put another knob of butter in the hole in the middle of the bread, and then crack 1 egg into the hole.
  5. Cook, until the bread, is golden on the bottom, and then CAREFULLY, using a wide spatula, flip egg/bread combo and brown the other side of the bread.

How you like your eggs will determine how long you cook each side. Season according to your taste. You can always serve bacon on the side if you need a bacon-fix.

Julianne, has been featured on SBS and the ABC for the small but mighty way she is battling in the war against waste.

Julianne, purchased her beloved LWB Multivan almost 2 years ago, in white, and had the van fitted with a kitchen by Mark at VanEssa mobilcamping, a system she saw on display at her local VW dealership.

“VanEssa staff are welcoming and lovely, when I visit the warehouse, I can make myself a coffee and there isn’t anything I couldn’t ask Mark about my Van setup.”

Not only is her van a useful tool of trade in her dumpster dive missions but aides her everyday life as her daily run around vehicle. It occurred to Julianne through a...
