Welcome to our first ever KombiLife, VanEssa Mobilcamping news. Our aim is to provide you with some inspiring stories to get you in your Kombi and exploring our beautiful country. Send us your stories enjoying the KombiLife in your van, including some photos.

The Manly Kombi Rally
It's on again this year on Saturday 23rd March 2019 - yes this Saturday.

Neil from Mooloolaba QLD just returned from a trip.
We have just returned from a trip from Sunshine Coast down to the Great Ocean Road, through McLaren Vale and up to Adelaide then across Australia to Nelson Bay and then up the NSW coast slowly and then home. Was 6,250km and about 4.5 weeks all in the VW Multivan using your VanEssa gear! Great trip! VW Magazine
Have you grabbed your copy of VW Magazine? I know it is not entirely "Kombi" but there are some good stories in there. In fact one of our stories were included in the last issue.
VWMA is an Australian owned and published enthusiasts magazine serving both the aircooled and watercooled Volkswagen scene nationally. Published quarterly (Feb, May, Aug, Nov), the magazine is available through newsagents Australia wide or via subscription, and covers every aspect of the hobby, from the very early models through to the latest innovations, motorsport, offroad, kit, custom, books, toys and shows.
Featured Camping Recipe
AUSSIE DAMPER
Ingredients
- 250 g self-raising flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 25 g unsalted butter chilled cubed
- 175 ml milk
Method
- Mix the flour with the salt in a large bowl. Add the butter and rub it into the flour with the tips of your fingers, until it resembles fine crumbs.
- Stir in the milk with a round blade knife (butter knife) to make a soft, but not sticky dough.
- Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and shape into a soft, smooth ball.
- Set the ball of dough onto a tray or baking sheet and flatten gently to make a round about 17cm across. Cut a deep cross in the dough and brush lightly with milk.
- Bake at 190C for 30 minutes until golden.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Of course you should cook it in your camp oven if you are camping but a great idea too is to wrap it around a stick and cook it over the fire - the kids will love it.
